Islamic-Cultural Center affiliated to Al-Mabarrat Charity Association held a meeting on ‘Imam Hussein (AS) in view of Islam and Christianity’ on December 23 at Imamayn Hassanayn Mosque in Beirut, Lebanon.

(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Islamic-Cultural Center affiliated to Al-Mabarrat Charity Association held a meeting on ‘Imam Hussein (AS) in view of Islam and Christianity’ on December 23 at Imamayn Hassanayn Mosque in Beirut, Lebanon.

George Masuh, director of the Center for Islamic-Christian Studies of Belmont University in Tripoli, Najib Nuruddin director of the Institue of Contemporary Islamic Thought as well as a number of researchers, intellectuals and officials of the country cooperated to hold the program.

At the beginning of the meeting, Najib Nuruddin clarified the Islamic viewpoint about the Imam based on the insight of late Allamah Seyyed Mohammad Hussein Fadhlullah, saying that: “martyrdom of Imam Hussein (AS) was a shock resulted in Islamic awareness of the world. Imam Hussein (AS) devoted his life to realize the objective of Islam.”

“Freedom of humanity was the objective of Ashura uprising which should not be attributed to any particular sect or school of thought,” he added.

Speaking at the meeting, George Masuh said: “in my viewpoint, as a Christian cleric, there are similar aspects in the life of Imam Hussein (AS) and The Jesus and they had similar destinies, since both of them fought with cruelty and corruptions in societies and defended the truth and righteousness.”

He further added that Imam Hussein (AS) and The Jesus do not belong to the past and both of them gifted peace to the mankind.
